Local, live music will be the fare for the 10th annual Granville Johnson Blue­grass Festival at the Park Theatre Civic Centre on Saturday, March 16.

“All of the artists that will perform are from the Jennings County area,” said Mike Whitehead, who is coordinating the festival with Tracy Thompson. “Most are bluegrass groups, but one of them (Groove Lounge) will play some folk rock. It will be a great evening for live music.”
The lineup of musical groups includes James White & Deer Creek with James White, Jerry and Libby Caudill, Jay Hol­brook, Gary Travis and Kyle Ramey; Groove Lounge with Brad Hen­dricks, Ian Castetter and Billy Brinson; Blue Moon with Paul and Sherry Cas­tetter and Mike and Ali Summers; the Hoosier Street Unit with Tracy Thompson, Steve “Beezer” Miller, Chris Webster, Tony and Shirley Bryant, Jim Bryant and Matt Thomp­son; and New Balance with Caleb Smith, Shania Simp­son, Zion Napier, Mark White­head and Garrett Smith.

The show, named for the late Granville Johnson, a local musician who died in 2004, starts at 7:30 p.m. with festival seating.

Tickets are now on sale at $10 apiece at the Park Theatre box office and whenever the theater is open for other events. Proceeds will go to the Granville Johnson Mem­orial Scholarship Fund.
