As printed in the North Vernon Plain Dealer on June 26, 2012
The Jennings County Players have announced details of the 2012-13 theater season that will start soon.
The first production of the season will be Sept. 21, 22 and 23 as the Players romp into the farcical production “Playing Doctor” directed by newcomer Mich Callahan.
“We are excited to welcome Mich into our family and do look forward to working with him this season,” said Judy Worrell, the Players’ executive director.
Auditions for “Playing Doctor” are set for July 16 and 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. both days at the Park Theatre.
The Christmas season will be brightened by a visit to “Santa’s Christmas Tree” on Dec. 7, 8 and 9 at the Park Theatre.
The season will end with a much anticipated reprise of “Always Patsy Cline” on March 1, 2 and 3 with special commemorative performance on Tuesday, March 5, the actual anniversary of her death. Proceeds from the March 5 special performance will be donated to a local charity to be announced.
Meanwhile, the 2012 annual Jenny Awards Dinner will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 2, at the Jennings County Public Library. The meal will be catered by Brenda Hughes. Awards will be presented to those who were involved in the 2011-12 season’s performances.
Tickets are $10 for non-members. To reserve tickets contact Worrell at 812-346-7803, 812-592-3641 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
New membership outreach and renewals are now underway. Players membership forms are available at the Park Theatre Civic Centre box office. Memberships make great gifts also, Worrell noted.
“Again we can’t thank people enough for their support of local theater and we hope this season will leave them wanting more and more to come,” Worrell said. “Be sure and get your tickets for our upcoming productions early. If you find you cannot use your tickets, make them a gift to someone else so we can share our talents.”
Park Theatre box office hours are Tuesday and Thursdays from 3 to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Telephone the Park Theatre box office at 346-0330 or 346-4329 or go to park-theatre.com. Watch for reminders and the Plain Dealer and Sun for dates of ticket availability.
“We are looking forward to another great season of entertainment in Jennings County and we are pleased to share it with you,” Worrell added.
